Saturday session
In addition to our weekly Wednesday sessions we have now held a Saturday event for part-time doctoral students who cannot attend the weekday meetings. MA Art Practice students and PhD applicants were also welcome. The session focussed on practice-led writing methods and was led by Chris Dorsett. We would like to develop these weekend seminars as a forum for debate with non-Northumbria participants.

PhD walking seminar in the North Pennines (Heidegger’s Hut)
This was an experiment in ‘dislocation’. The idea came from Martin Heidegger’s practice of working in a remote hut in the Black Forest with few books to hand (see Sharr, A., [2006], Heidegger’s hut, Cambridge MA: MIT)
Forthcoming events:
Exhibitions in Hexham General Hospital curated by Poyan Yee.

All Maps Welcome Conference II
Our second conference on practice-led research is under way! We continue our debate about the issues and development of practice-led research. This time the discussion will be particularly around practice-led researches in healthcare. The AMW II will take place sometime in Nov-Dec 2008. We will keep you informed!
Wednesday sessions having a summer break
Our weekly session will be suspended during the summer break (mid Jul. – mid Sept.). We are coming back on 10 September. Everyone who’s interested in participating in developing thesis writing methods in practice-led research and the next AMW conference project is welcome to join us! Bring your maps along!
More Saturdays!
Following the popularity and success of our Saturday session, we are planning to do more of them. We are hosting the next one on 4 Oct.
